How to Avoid Your Precious Locks from blocking the drain

Your worst nightmare, clogged drains!

Clogs in drain lines shows up at the worst times possible. The stench that builds up is a giveaway. When you eventually get the drains cleaned out you will notice that most of the blockage comprises of hair; disgusting, we know!

Here are some ways to keep your drains free from blockages.

1. Place a cloth on the drain.

A perfect recycling idea -place a piece of cloth from some old t-shirt on your drain to attract all the loose hair. As you may have noticed, hair loves to latch on to any kind of cloth; the fibers tend to hold on to hair. By having a piece of cloth placed on the drain to cover it, you won’t be restricting the water flow. You can clean the hair off the cloth easily by removing the cloth, picking out the hair or changing the cloth regularly.

2. Place stray hair aside

This will not solve the problem but definitely curb it to some extent. While showering or bathing, you will see some stray hair—it’s natural and happens to the best of us!

The longer your hair the more noticeable the stray hairs are. Instead of letting them go down the sink, place them somewhere where it won’t end up in the drain, when you’re done with the bathroom discard these hairs in a dustbin.

3. Use a mesh cup

This simple contraption looks like a kitchen strainer. You place it on the drain on your shower. This piece of metal holds together all the hair that comes loose during a shower. This fitting is good to have if you notice a lot of hair fallout or if the shower is used frequently at home, maybe because you have a big family. The metal mesh cup may need to be cleaned during the shower depending on hair length.

4. Brush your hair before showering

Notice the hair on your brush, all that could end up at the bottom of your drain if you don’t brush your hair. By brushing your hair before a shower you are letting go of the loose hair before you enter the shower, hence reducing the strain on your drain!
